Most goals fail because they're not accompanied by a written plan. By this I mean that the goal was never really tested by putting it through an evaluation to see if this is really the right goal for you.
There's a process called a "situation analysis" which should be performed first, which allows you to answer some questions about yourself and your current situation before selecting any goal. This helps to get you focused on the right goal. This is in large part a reason why many goals are not achieved. For goals to get you really excited, they must have the "juice" that determines if you'll really follow the goal to its completion.
When you do set that first goal, you must be sure it's accompanied by a strategic and tactical plan as well. Without this supporting cast, you're goal will probably fail as well. These components, along with deadlines for completion of the strategies and tactics are a must.
Keep in mind I'm referring to goals that are somewhat difficult and not something like, "pick up dry cleaning on Tuesday". If you are tackling pretty significant goals in your life, you must go through the processes mentioned above. If you have any questions, please reply to this post, or visit;
